Have you ever attended a class and did not feel as great as you would like to? Not all movement is appropriate for everyone. Sometimes we think that we can just force our bodies into movements even if they do not feel quite right. Overtime, if we continue to do postures that are not favorable to your body we will be creating issues and possible pain. we need to find the appropriate movements and modifications to help us gain the benefits of the workout, find better alignment, mobility and stability. When it comes to dance, somatic training can be very useful to help you find the connections and lack of in your body that will impede your best performance, mobility and stability. This is based on the developmental patterns of a child. Each pattern builds over the next one, and if we haven't mastered one pattern correctly it is important to go back and work on some exercises to repattern that connectivity.
